East Atlanta Macaroni KID Exclusive - A Grand Slam for Our Community:

Coco Gauff Helps Transform East Atlanta Kids Club Tennis Courts

East Atlanta Kids Club (EAKC) just got a major glow-up! It’s all thanks to tennis superstar, Atlanta-raised phenom, and all-around inspiration Coco Gauff. Her generous donation has completely transformed the tennis courts at the East Atlanta Kids Club, giving local kids a vibrant, safe, and exciting place to play, grow, and dream big.  This renovation is not just a facelift. It is a love letter to the city that helped shape Coco into the champion she is today.

🌟 Coco Gauff: From Atlanta Kid to Global Tennis Icon

Before Coco was winning Grand Slams and electrifying crowds around the world, she spent part of her childhood right here in Atlanta.  Those early years in our city helped spark her passion for tennis, and now she is paying that joy forward in the most meaningful way.  Her donation did not just fix cracks in the pavement or refresh the nets. It revitalized an entire community space designed to uplift kids far beyond the sport. As East Atlanta Kids Club Director Ryan Downey shared, Coco wanted to invest in a park that supports activation, a place buzzing with young people, energy, and opportunity.

🎾 More Than Tennis: Building Confidence, Resilience & Joy

The newly renovated courts are already alive with action. Coach Daisha Reed of Clark Atlanta University teaches 10-year-olds on the refreshed courts, and she credits the transformation directly to Coco’s generosity. Simply stated, “Coco Gauff happened,” she said.

But the magic happening here goes way beyond forehands and footwork.

Kids are learning:

  • Confidence
  • Self-trust
  • Emotional regulation
  • Teamwork
  • Resilience

As Downey beautifully put it, sports are a powerful vehicle for life lessons, discipline, teamwork, and the kind of grit which helps kids thrive in every area of life.  The East Atlanta Kids Club has always focused on keeping kids safe and equipping them with skills which carry them far beyond the court. Coco’s donation supercharged that mission.
